Antonello Sciacchitano

Antonello Sciacchitano (* 1940 in San Pellegrino Terme ) is an Italian psychoanalyst , mathematician , doctor and author .

Sciacchitano studied medicine and mathematics. In the 1970s he met Jacques Lacan in Milan when he wanted to found a new psychoanalytic school in Italy. The project failed. Sciacchitano later translated works by Sigmund Freud and Jacques Lacan into Italian. He has his own psychoanalytic practice, teaches at the University of Milan and is the editor of the Italian cultural magazine aut aut, which is directed by Pier Aldo Rovatti . In his numerous books and essays, Sciacchitano deals with the idea of ​​the infinite and its effect on the human psyche. He is interested in the interface between mathematics, psychoanalysis and philosophy. He writes regularly for Riss. Journal of Psychoanalysis .
