Antonio Aguerre (* in Uruguay; † 1942 ) was a Uruguayan football player .

Career

society

The "Flaco" Aguerre called in 1922 was initially in the ranks of the Uruguayan top division club Liverpool Montevideo . From 1923 to 1928 he was part of the Peñarol Montevideo squad . While he was used in central midfield at Liverpool, he was used in the "Aurinegros" as a left half . With Peñarol, he and his team won the parallel championship played by the Federación Uruguaya de Football (FUF) in 1924 during the phase of the split in the organizational structure of Uruguayan football . After restoring a unified league in 1928 also succeeded in winning the Uruguayan championship in the Primera División . During Aguerre's association, the Aurinegros retained the upper hand in 1923 at the Copa Strausmann , the Copa Beisso , the Copa Chery-Medina and the Copa Pro Cárceles . In the following years, his club also won numerous less important tournaments, such as the 1925 Copa Florense , Copa Alem , Copa Círculo de Prensa or the Copa José Massone . In the following year they were victorious at the Copa Sisley and the Copa Imparcial , among others . The Copa Cristal de Roca , Copa Eintracht and the Copa Ricardo Pittaluga in 1927 or the Copa Mirurgia 1928 were also among the club's successes in these years of membership.

National team

Aguerre also played for the Uruguayan senior team . With this he took part in the South American Championship in 1922 . During the tournament he played four games. In the same year he was also part of the Uruguayan team at the Copa Lipton , the Copa Newton and the Copa Gran Premio de Honor Uruguayo . Overall, he completed nine international matches from his debut on September 23, 1922 to his last appearance for the Celeste on August 10, 1924. He did not score a hit.
