Antonio Bartolomeo Bruni
Antonio Bartolomeo Bruni (born January 28, 1757 in Cuneo (Piémont), † August 6, 1821 ibid) was an Italian violinist and classical composer .
Life
Bruni was a student of Gaetano Pugnani , according to Fétis possibly also a certain Spezzani. In Paris in 1780 he conducted the Orchestra of the Concert Spirituel . He was a member of the Italian Opera Orchestra and was co-editor of a Journal de violon . In addition to Giovanni Battista Viotti , he directed the Théatre Monsieur from 1789 . In the years of terror after the French Revolution, Bruni was commissioned by the Revolutionary Guard to draw up an inventory of the expropriated musical instruments. After the introduction of the Premier Empire, Empress Joséphine appointed Bruni as her principal violinist.
Between 1785 and 1801 Bruni composed more than twenty works for the stage and around 200 works that can be assigned to chamber music, such as string quartets, trios, duos, violin sonatas, but also "revolutionary music".
