Antonio Calenda

Antonio Calenda (* 1939 in Buonabitacolo , Province of Salerno ) is an Italian theater maker and director .

Life

Calenda graduated in legal philosophy before founding the Centouno experimental theater , where he worked with Gigi Proietti , Virginio Gazzolo and others. He then became director of the Teatro Stabile dell'Aquila, where he also staged numerous plays as a theater director until 1994. a. the world premiere of the play Operetta by Witold Gombrowicz in 1969. Since May 1995 he has worked at the Teatro Stabile del Friuli. He also worked for radio and television.

In 1972 Calenda also wrote and directed a one-off for the big screen: The drama Il giorno del furore , based on Mikhail Jurjewitsch Lermontov, was international and prominent with Oliver Reed , John McEnery and Claudia Cardinale . He also worked for television twice.
