Antonio Campi (* around 1523 in Cremona ; † 1587 there ) was an Italian painter .

Life

He was the son of Galeazzo Campi . Many members of his family were painters: Vincenzo Campi was his brother; Giulio Campi, on the other hand, is considered his half-brother. He was distantly related to Bernardino Campi .

Antonio was a skilful imitator of Correggio . He combined Mannerist elements with the Lombard style and was in the habit of introducing caricature images even into sacred objects. He was a (often launched) chronicle of his native town under the title Cremona fidelissima città Illustrata etc. out.
