Antonio Jasso (born March 11, 1935 in Mexico City , † June 26, 2013 ), also known by the nickname El Güero (the blonde ), was a Mexican football player in the position of the striker .

Jasso received his first professional contract with his hometown club Necaxa , for which he only played briefly. Before the 1956/57 season he switched to CD Zacatepec and won four titles with this club in just three years. After these successes he went back to his hometown, where he played for Club America , with which he won three more titles.

National team

Between 1956 and 1962 Antonio Jasso completed a total of 18 missions for the Mexican national team and scored two goals. He made his international debut on February 26, 1956 against Costa Rica (1: 1), his two international goals he scored on May 22, 1962 in a 2-1 victory over Wales.

The highlight of his international playing career was his participation in the 1962 World Cup , where he played the two preliminary round matches against Brazil (0: 2) and Spain (0: 1), but of all things in the historic 3: 1 win against eventual runner-up Czechoslovakia ( Mexico’s first ever victory at a World Cup!)
