Ahmad Ismat Abdal Maguid ( Arabic أحمد عصمت عبد المجيد, DMG Aḥmad ʿIṣmat ʿAbd al-Maǧīd ; * March 22, 1923 in Alexandria ; † December 21, 2013 in Cairo ) was an Egyptian diplomat . He was foreign minister of his country from 1984 to 1991 and then general secretary of the Arab League until 2001 .
