Antonio José Sánchez Mazuecos (born January 2, 1995 in Palma del Río ) is a Spanish pop singer from the province of Cordoba . He became known in 2015 as the winner of the third season of La Voz , the Spanish edition of The Voice .

biography

In his childhood Antonio José came to football through his father, who also coached the local team. In his age group he was the Spanish runner-up in futsal . At the urging of his mother, he took part in a talent show for the first time as a singer when he was eight. In the well-known youth competition Veo-Veo he finished 2nd. In 2005 he appeared on television at Eurojunior . At the age of ten he won this preliminary round with his song Te traigo flores and then represented Spain at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest . There he finished two points behind the winner. His debut album, named after the song, also hit the Spanish charts .

The Andalusian released his second album in 2009. Todo vuelve a empezar was not as successful as its predecessor, but with the song Junto a ti he was awarded for the best pop song at a Latin America festival in San Francisco .

After further single releases, Antonio José took part in the casting show La Voz in the summer of 2015 . He applied with the song Ya lo sabes by coach Antonio Orozco and was brought into his team by him. In the subsequent rounds he was elected by the audience and with 76% of the votes he achieved the best result of all participants in the semifinals. As a favorite, he also won the final, in which he sang the summer hit El perdón (originally by Nicky Jam and Enrique Iglesias ) with Orozco, among others . The album El viaje , released immediately after the show, took first place in the charts.
