Antonio Orozco (born November 23, 1972 in Barcelona ; full name Antonio José Orozco Ferrón ) is a Spanish chant author .

biography

Antonio Orozco grew up in Barcelona, but as a teenager moved the family to Andalusia near Seville , where the parents originally came from. There he discovered the enthusiasm for Andalusian music and he learned to play flamenco guitar . First he accompanied other singers and then began to write his own songs. After all, he performed his own songs in train stations and bars.

He met Xavi Perez, with whom he recorded his first album. Un reloj y una vela was published in 2000 and sold over 100,000 copies. Just one year later he finished his second album, Semilla del silencio , which clearly surpassed the success of the debut album. With over 300,000 copies sold, it is Orozco's most successful album. Album number three El principio del comienzo also achieved similar success and reached number one in the Spanish charts .

He then expanded his career to Latin America and the Spanish-speaking areas of the United States. With the Colombian Juanes he went on an American tour and with the song Es mi soletud he had his first success in the US Latin charts. The tour DVD also sold successfully.

The success of the flamenco pop musician stagnated with the following two albums. With Cadizfornia he missed number one in the charts in 2006 and only had one smaller international hit with Dime por qué . With the sales of the 2009 album Renovatio , he missed platinum status in Spain for the first time and only came back to second place. For this he first came into the Latin pop chart in the USA. There he had the big breakthrough with the next album Diez , named after his 10 year career. It reached the top of the US Latin pop chart. With the album song Estoy hecho de pedacitos de ti he was nominated for a Latin Grammys for song of the year in 2012 . In Spain, Diez was his third number two album in a row.

The great success in his home country returned in 2013 with his seventh studio album Dos orillas . It returned to number one and stayed in the charts for months. It also became his second album to go at least double platinum.

Antonio Orozco has been a jury member for the casting show La Voz , the Spanish edition of The Voice, since 2013 .
