Malú
Malú (born March 15, 1982 in Madrid ; actually María Lucía Sánchez Benítez ) is a Spanish singer . Her father, the flamenco singer Pepe de Lucía is one of the two older brothers of the flamenco guitarist Paco de Lucía . Her mother Pepi Benítez used to work as a singer.
biography
Malú began her music career at the age of 15 when she heard her later producer Jesús Yanez sing. He decided to present it at Pep's Records. From January to February 1998 Malú recorded her first album Aprendiz , which was created in collaboration with Alejandro Sanz . 400,000 copies of this album were sold. After a tour through Spain and Latin America she interpreted the play Reflejo for Walt Disney Records for the cartoon Mulan .
After the success of Aprendiz, she recorded the album Cambiarás in 1999 . Malú said that the main difference to the previous album is the voice: “I have a much more mature voice. It was a very long tour and it gave me a lot more maturity for the singing voice, I gained a lot of experience. ”Cambiarás immediately rose to 3rd place in AFYVE (Asociación Fonográfica y Videográfica Expañola, Spanish Sound and Video Association) and sold himself 100,000 times in just 10 days.
She then took part in the recording of the album Tatuaje with the Spanish folk song A tu vera .
In May 2001 her new album Esta vez was released in Spain. This third album was produced by their new record label Sony Music and included tracks such as Sin tí todo anda mal , Ven a pervertirme , Me quedó grande tu amor and Toda . About 300,000 copies of this album were sold in Spain.
With Esta vez Malú went on tour in Spain and America. Then she began working on her fourth album, Otra piel , which she presented on June 30, 2003 with the piece No me extraña nada . Titles like Enamorada and Inevitable also made this CD a success.
On the evening of February 3, 2004, Malú recorded the live album Por una vez in the Sala Pachá in Madrid . This album contains her successful tracks with the participation of artists such as David de María, Antonio Orozco, Alejandro Sanz, her father Pepe de Lucía and her uncle Paco de Lucía. The CD went on sale on April 19th, along with a DVD containing the night's work, videos and photos.
In April 2005 Malú released her sixth album, arguably the most personal to date. It was produced by Mauri Stern and Graeme Pleet and recorded in Madrid and London. It contains pieces like Diles (first single), Te conozco desde siempre and Sabes bien .
Desafío is her album from 2006 with the first single Si estoy loca . Desafío was again produced by Mauri Stern and also recorded in Madrid and London, with Malú this time involved in the complete creation of the album from the selection of the pieces to the production. Actor Alejandro Tour from the TV series Yo soy Bea appeared in the video clip of their second single No voy a cambiar . In March 2007, Malú had two guest appearances on television, once in the aforementioned series Yo soy Bea on Telecinco and in Manolo y Benito on Antena 3 .
The album Gracias (2007) is a compilation of 15 tracks from the previous seven albums as well as three unreleased bonus tracks. A DVD recording of the concert on September 29, 2007 in the Pavillon Vistalegre in Córdoba as part of the Tour Desafío is included.
