Antonio Vera

Antonio Vera (born February 9, 1972 in Remscheid ) is a university professor and head of the department “Organization and Personnel Management in the Police” at the German Police University in Münster.

Education

Vera studied economics (Dipl.Ök.) at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal between 1991 and 1995 and cultural studies (BA) and history (MA) at the FernUniversität in Hagen between 2008 and 2014 .

In 2000 received his doctorate he attended the Economic and Social Sciences of the University of Cologne to Dr. rer. pole. with a dissertation on the subject of "Organization of tax departments and the use of external tax advice in large German companies: an empirical analysis". In 2007 Vera completed her habilitation there on the subject of “Hospital Management in a Competitive Environment” and acquired the venia legendi for the subject of business administration. In 2018 he finally received his doctorate from the Faculty of Cultural and Social Sciences at the FernUniversität in Hagen. phil. with a dissertation on the topic “From the 'Police of Democracy' to the 'Member and Tool of the National Socialist Community' - The Police as an Instrument of State Rule in Germany in the Interwar Period (1918–1939)”.

Professional Activities

After completing his first degree, Vera worked from 1996 as a tax consultant, initially at the auditing and consulting company KPMG and then at the technology group ThyssenKrupp in Düsseldorf, before moving to the University of Cologne in 1999 . There he initially worked as a research assistant at the seminar for general business administration, especially business taxation, then as a research assistant at the seminar for general business administration and finally as a research assistant at the seminar for general business administration, especially management in health care.

After a stay as a visiting scholar at the University of Cambridge in the summer of 2007, he took over the management of the “Organization and Personnel Management in the Police” department at the German Police University in September 2007 . As part of his scientific work, Vera deals with the organizational culture of the police, organizational learning and innovations, the organization and management of hospitals and the effects of demographic change on personnel management, but also with economic and police history topics.
