Antonito is a small town in Conejos County in the US state of Colorado . The city, founded on December 29, 1889, is 2405 meters above sea level and, according to the statistics office, had 781 inhabitants in an area of one square kilometer in 2010.
The town lies on the highways US Highway 285 and Colorado State Highway 17 and serves as a starting point for summer car rides on the routes of former Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad : the narrow gauge " Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad " evaporated up to 100 km beyond Osier to Chama (New Mexico) , the standard gauge San Luis and Rio Grande Railroad runs under the name Rio Grande Scenic Railroad to Alamosa , Monte Vista and La Veta.
