Antony Fisher

Antony George Anson Fisher ( June 28, 1915 - July 8, 1988 ) was a British business developer.

He was dedicated to promoting liberal politics. Together with Oliver Smedley, he founded the Institute of Economic Affairs in 1955 and the Atlas Economic Research Foundation (now Atlas Network ) in 1981 . Fisher had been a member of the Mont Pelerin Society since 1947 . With the help of Atlas, he helped establish over 150 think tanks worldwide, some of the best known are:

Fisher attended Eton College and served in the Royal Air Force during World War II .

With a certificate dated June 11, 1988, Queen Elizabeth II had announced that she wanted to raise him to a Knight Bachelor degree . His death on July 8, 1988 preceded the investiture . Nevertheless, his widow Dorian Dodge Fisher was given the title , rank and dignity of the wife of a Knights Bachelor.

He is the namesake of the Fisher Award, which has been presented by the Atlas Economic Research Foundation since 1990 .
