Orpethal is a district of the city of Diemelstadt in the northern Hessian district of Waldeck-Frankenberg .
Geographical location
Orpethal is located on the Orpe in the Teutoburg Forest / Eggegebirge nature park . The state road 3438 runs through the village and continues outside the village under the federal motorway 44 .
history
Orpethal has only existed as a place since 1853. At that time it was formed from the Pickhardshammer and the Ottenshammer and the associated houses. Both were iron hammers .
The Pickhard Hammer has been in existence since 1692. The under monument protection standing half-timbered house today is the Documentation Center of hammers and mills in North Waldeck "Strength through water."
On December 31, 1971, Orpethal was incorporated into the Diemelstadt community as part of the regional reform in Hesse .
