Hesperinghausen is a district of the city of Diemelstadt in the northern Hessian district of Waldeck-Frankenberg .

Geographical location

Hesperinghausen is located in the west of Diemelstadt on the border with North Rhine-Westphalia in the so-called Red Land . To the north of the village are the Büchenberg and Platzberg nature reserves near Hesperinghausen and the Büchenberg and Platzberg nature reserves near Hesperinghausen

history

The village probably originated around 500 AD. The place was first mentioned in 1246 AD. In the 18th century, miners settled in the place who worked in the nearby copper mines . The last mine in Marsberg was closed in 1945. In 1996 the village anniversary "750 years of Hesperinghausen" took place. Ten years later (2006) a festival called "750 + 10" took place, which followed on from the annual harvest festival.

At 31 December 1971 Hesperinghausen was in the course of administrative reform in Hesse on a voluntary basis in the city Diemelstadt incorporated .

Worth seeing

• Church (Protestant): There are only remnants of the medieval church building in the tower and in the west wall of the nave. In 1761 a new half-timbered ship was added and probably rebuilt around 1840. Complete restorations took place in 1900, 1933 and 1997.

  • Shooting club: The shooting festival in Hesperinghausen is held every two years. In particular, the type of bird shooting is a specialty here. The wooden bird is shot at with a crossbow. In 2019 the shooting club celebrated its 150th anniversary, for which a chronicle (based on the shooting chronicle from 1994) was created.
