Anwār at-tanzīl wa-asrār at-taʾwīl
Anwār at-tanzīl wa-asrār at-taʾwīl ( Arabic أنوار التنزيل وأسرار التأويل 'The rays of sending down and the mysteries of interpretation'), also Tafsir al-Baidawi (Arabic) or Tafsir-e Baidawi (Persian), is a Tafsīr work (Koran interpretation / Koran commentary) by ʿAbdallah ibn ʿUmar Baiḍāwī (died around 1290) , a scholar from the Shafi'ite school of law . The work's influence extends to the present day.
It was
“ Called by some as the short version of the Kashaf of Zamachshari . In fact, it is heavily influenced by Zamachshari's kashaf. But in terms of legal doctrine and scholasticism, it is also very similar to the Tafsir-e Kabir by Fachr Razi . [...] In his interpretation he did not limit himself to the aid of traditions, nor did he rely only on rational considerations or tried to concentrate exclusively on the hidden truths in the Koran. Rather, we encounter the combination of these three methods throughout his work. When explaining the verses, he cites literary, scholastic, historical and religious law points. "
There are about twenty marginal commentaries by Shiite scholars, including the marginal commentary by Sheikh Bahāʾī and that of Qazi Nurullah Shushtari .
The work was 1846-48 under the title Beidhawii Commentarius in Coranum ex codd. parisiensibus published by Heinrich Leberecht Fleischer in Leipzig .
A selection with numerous annotations was edited by DS Margoliouth entitled Chrestomathia Beidawiana (London, 1894).
