The Kaschaf ( Persian کشف, DMG Kašaf ) or Kaschaf Rūd (also Kashaf Rūd Persian کشفرود‌, 'Turtle River ') is a river in northeastern Iran .

The source of the river is in the Binālūd Mountains region in the Razavi-Chorāsān Province . Its total length is approximately 290 km. The course of the Kaschaf leads past the city of Chenaran and the provincial capital Mashhad further east to the border with Turkmenistan . There it flows below the Doosti Dam into the Tedschen (or Hari Rūd, in Turkmen Tejen ) coming from Afghanistan , which forms the border between Iran and Turkmenistan over a distance of about 100 km and in an oasis in the sandy Desert region of the Kārākum in Turkmenistan ends.

In Iranian mythology , kashaf refers to a river on which a dragon lived.
