Kaschafrud
Kaschafrūd (also Kashafrūd or Kashaf Rūd , Persian کشفرود Kaschaf Rūd ) is an archaeological site of the Old Paleolithic southeast of Mashhad in northeastern Iran . It lies on the river of the same name , which is one of the most important rivers in the Iranian province of Razavi-Chorāsān . The artifacts found here, mostly cores , are the oldest evidence of human settlement in Iran .
The French archaeologist C. Thibault dated the found Oldowan- like stone tool made of quartz to 800,000 BC. BC Moustérien - Artifacts from the Middle Pleistocene also showed similarities with finds from the Caucasus . The stones were analyzed again in the Iranian National Museum and some of them were exhibited.
