Karl Sperka

Karl Sperka (born October 6, 1853 in Breslau , † January 8, 1932 in Stuttgart ) was a glove maker and member of the German Reichstag .

Life

Sperka attended the parish school of St. Dorothea in Breslau, learned to be a glove maker in Breslau and traveled through Germany and Austria as an assistant. In Stuttgart he worked for twelve years as managing director of a larger factory in the glove industry and founded his own manufacturing business in 1897. Since 1901 he was elected to the municipal council in Stuttgart.

In 1882 he joined the SPD and the union. Between 1892 and 1911 he was chairman of the SPD Württemberg several times , but only acquired Württemberg citizenship in August 1897.

From 1903 to 1907 he was a member of the German Reichstag for the constituency of Württemberg 4 ( Böblingen , Vaihingen , Leonberg , Maulbronn ) and the SPD.

From 1912 to 1918 he held a mandate in the Second Chamber of the Württemberg Land estates and from 1919 to 1924 he was a member of the Württemberg Landtag .
