Gosho Aoyama ( Japanese 青山 剛 昌 , Aoyama Gōshō , born June 21, 1963 in Daiei (today: Hokuei ), Tottori Prefecture ) is a Japanese manga artist .

His first manga with the title Chotto Mattete ( ち ょ と ま っ て て ) he published in 1986. His most important works include Yaiba , Kaito Kid and Detective Conan . The last-mentioned series in particular, with meanwhile almost 100 manga volumes, over 900 anime episodes and 23 movies, brought Aoyama great international fame and economic success. B. in 2000 ranked third among the highest earning Japanese private individuals and in 2001 ranked sixth, in 2004 he was next to Rumiko Takahashi the highest earning mangaka.

For Yaiba he received the 38th Shogakukan Manga Prize in the category "children" in 1993 and for Detective Conan 2001 the 46th Shogakukan Manga Prize in the Shōnen category .

In addition to drawing manga, Gosho Aoyama also practices kendo and baseball . He often visits the Hanshin Kōshien Stadium with the mangaka Mitsuru Adachi . In addition, he is not only a football fan, but also a big crime fanatic, especially Sherlock Holmes novels, whose characters and motifs he often incorporates into the plot of Detective Conan .

On May 5, 2005 he married Minami Takayama , singer of the Japanese pop group Two-Mix and anime voice actress who, among other things, dubbed the main character Conan Edogawa in the anime to Detective Conan and, as part of Two-Mix, also made a guest appearance in the anime Has. On December 10th, 2007, Japanese newspapers reported that they had divorced.
