Apollon Kalamarias ( Greek Απόλλων Καλαμαριάς), full name PAE Apollon 1926, is a Greek football club from the Kalamaria district of Thessaloniki , which currently plays in the second highest league in Greece . The parent club of the soccer department is the MGSK Apollon sports club (music and gymnastics club Apollon Kalamaria, Greek Μ.Γ.Σ.Κ. "Ο Απόλλων"), the departments for soccer (juniors), basketball and volleyball, athletics, boxing, tennis and does table tennis, swimming and weight lifting.
The Apollon Kalamarias association was founded in 1926 by refugees from Asia Minor in Kalamaria, a suburb in the southwest of the city of Thessaloniki. The club had its first notable successes in the 1957/58 season, when it won the Macedonian regional championship.
Apollon Kalamarias plays its home games in the Stadio Apollona , which is located in the district of the same name. The stadium, which holds 7,000 spectators, is owned by the amateur club (MGSK Apollon) and was a training facility for soccer competitions during the 2004 Olympic Games .
