Apostolic candlesticks are twelve candlesticks, mostly with crosses, attached to the inner walls of the Roman Catholic parish churches . In addition to the consecration crosses, they mark the places where the walls of the church are anointed during the consecration .

It is part of the rite of the consecration of a church by the bishop that in addition to the altar , twelve places (sometimes only four places today) on the church interior walls are anointed with chrism . These places are usually marked with a consecration cross , also called an apostle's cross . In many churches the candlesticks are attached to the consecration crosses. The number twelve refers to the apostles who shine before people and spread the teachings of the Gospel: "Let your light shine before people, so that they may see your good works and praise your Father in heaven" ( Mt 5:16  EU )

The candles in the chandeliers of the Apostles are generally lit on solemn feasts and especially on the day the church is dedicated. When furnishing the church, care should be taken that the Stations of the Cross and the Apostles' candlesticks are not placed in close proximity to one another.
