Apostol Milew Karamitev (also Apostol Karamitev , Bulgarian Апостол Милев Карамитев ; born October 17, 1923 in Burgas , † November 9, 1973 in Sofia ) was a Bulgarian actor .

biography

Apostol Karamitew studied acting at the National Academy of Theater and Film Arts in Sofia until 1947 ( Национална академия за театрално и филмово изкуство ; НАТФИЗ "Ivanov Theater" ) and then became an actor at the Bulgarian National Theater " . He made his debut as a film actor in 1951 with the film Morning over the homeland of Anton Marinowitsch and Stefan Sartschadschiew . With his role as the romantic hero, he won the favor of the audience. For the role of Mischo in Janko Jankow's It Happened on the Street , he was awarded an honorary diploma at the 1956 Karlovy Vary Film Festival ; his Alexandrow in Metodi Andonows Bjalata staja (1968) won him the actor's award at the Varna Film Festival . He played the leading role of Colonel Damjanow in the German-Bulgarian co-production Heimitäten (1969), directed by Wolfgang Staudte . He had his last film appearance in 1974 in the history role of Iwan Assen II in Willi Zankow's tsar wedding in Tarnowo . Karamitev's other well-known leading roles were Radoslaw in Lyubimez 13 (1958) and Apostol in Masters in All Subjects (1962).

Karamitew was awarded the Dimitrov Prize in 1950 for his theater work and in 1953 the same prize for his portrayal of Captain Welkow in Nascha semja . In 1963 he became an Honored Artist of the People's Republic of Bulgaria.

He was married to the actress Margarita Duparinova and had a son and daughter with her, who also became actors - Momchil Karamitew and Margarita Karamitewa. In 2007, Karamitev was voted one of the 100 greatest Bulgarians in history by Velikite Balgari . The theater in Dimitrovgrad was named after him.
