The National Academy of Theater and Film Arts "Krastjo Sarafow" ( Bulgarian Национална академия за театрално и филмово изкуство , abbreviation НАТФИЗ) is a theater and film school in Sofia . The academy was named after the Bulgarian theater actor Krastjo Sarafov .

The academy was founded in 1948 as the first university training center for theater and film. To date it is the only public institution of its kind in the country. Around 120 new students are accepted each year, including 20 international students, who are taught in three different buildings. The practice theater was founded in 1957 and the puppet theater in 1966. In addition to a cinema, a video hall and an audiovisual center, there is a library with over 60,000 national and international specialist books. The student residence is located in Studentski grad on the campus of Sofia's universities.
