The University of National and World Economy ( Bulgarian Университет за национално и световно стопанство Universitet za nacionalno i svetovno stopanstvo , short УНССС / UNSS) - short UNWE (for English University ) of Sofia - is the largest and largest university in Sofia and World Economy all of Bulgaria . Until 1990 , today's University of National and World Economics was called the Karl Marx Institute . The motto is "tomorrow the future will be ours".

The university goes back to the Free University of Political and Economic Sciences (FUPES) founded in 1920, changed its status several times in the course of the political systems in the country and was given its current name in 1990 . Statty Stattev has been the rector of the university since 2011 .
