The American University in Bulgaria (AUBG, Eng. American University in Bulgaria, bulg. Американски университет в България, Amerikanski uniwersitet w Balgarija ) is a private, liberal College of Liberal Arts , resulting in Blagoevgrad , Bulgaria , is located.

It was founded in 1991 . The language of instruction is English . There are three sources of funding: gifts (mainly from the United States Agency for International Development and the Soros Foundation ), gifts, and tuition fees. The university sees its goal in "training future leaders who will be initiated into the values ​​of an open, democratic society and who will serve the community in this way."

The Bachelor's degree possible at this university is recognized in Bulgaria and the United States of America . There are 74 faculty members, about half of whom are American. The remaining members are mostly from Bulgaria. Around seventy percent of the students are Bulgarians, the remaining thirty percent come from neighboring countries.
