The Agricultural University of Plovdiv was founded in 1945. It has expanded its prominent position as the national center for agricultural science and education in Bulgaria.

In 2006, the National Evaluation and Accreditation Agency of the Agricultural University of Plovdiv awarded institutional accreditation and the highest grade “Very Good”. The university offers training for three degrees - Bachelor, Master and PhD.

Both Bulgarian and foreign students are enrolled in the three academic and dual study programs both full-time and part-time. Foreign applicants who have completed preparatory training in Bulgarian can choose between various bachelor's degree programs.

The university is divided into three faculties:

  • Faculty of Agriculture
  • Faculty of Horticulture and Wine
  • Faculty of Plant Protection and Agroecology
  • Faculty of Economics
  • Language training, physical education and sports departments

The university is a member of the network of Balkan universities (Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Greece, Kosovo, Croatia, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Turkey, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro).
