The St. Ivan Rilski University of Mining and Geology ( Bulgarian : Минно-геоложки университет "Св. Иван Рилски" , transcribed Minno-geoloschki Universitet Sv. Ivan Rilski ), MGU for short , is a Bulgarian state university in Sofia with majors in mining and geology .

history

The university is since 1953 a higher educational institution and walked out of the Минно-геоложки институт (Minno-geoloschki Institute), renamed Висш минно-геоложки институт out (Vissch Minno-Geoloschki Institute) and later became a university after the saint Ivan Rilski named.

Today it is divided into 5 faculties with around 3000 students, 250 professors and 185 other academic staff. The rector has been Ljuben Ivanov Totev (Любен Иванов Тотев) since November 2011. The university has a branch in Kardzhali .

The MGU publishes yearbooks, first 1.1953 / 1954 as Godisnik na Minno-Geoloschkija Institut Sofija = Annuaire de l'Institut Minier et Géologique Sofia ( ZDB -ID 160614-1 ), from 11.1964 / 65 as Godisnik na Visschija Minno-Geoloschki Institut Sofija = Annuaire de l'École Supérieure des Mines et de Géologie Sofia = Annual book of Higher Institute of Mining and Geology ( ZDB -ID 160613-x ) and from 36.1989 / 90 as Godisnik na Minno-Geoloschkija Universitet Sofija = Annual of the University of Mining and Geology Sofia ( ZDB -ID 1090070-6 ).

In 1983 the Vissch Minno-Geoloschki Institute published a Balgarsko-nemski minno-geoloschki retschnik = Bulgarian-German dictionary for mining and geology .
