The Mausz ( Kashubian Môùsz , German Großer Mausch-See ) in Poland is a lake in Kashubian Switzerland . The lake lies at an altitude of 154 m above sea level and has an area of 384 hectares. The lake was formed in the Ice Age and has an outflow into the Słupia ( Stolpe ).
A peninsula protrudes into the lake from the southwest, the western "finger" was previously known as the Kleiner Mausch-See , without an equivalent in Polish .

The fish species found in the Mausz are: eel ( Anguilla anguilla ), perch ( Perca fluviatilis ), bream (bream, Abramis brama ), pike ( Esox lucius ), crucian carp ( Carassius carassius ), whitefish ( Coregonus albula ), roach (roach, rutilus) rutilus ), tench ( Tinca tinca ) and pikeperch ( Sander lucioperca ).
Places on the lake
In the middle of the lake is another peninsula with the resort of Ostrów-Mausz (until 1912 Ostrow-Mausch ) . Also in the district of Kartuzy ( Karthaus ) is the place Kłodno ( Kloden ) and two other places on the bank are Frydrychowo ( Friedrichshof ) and Grabowo Parchowskie ( Grabau ) in the district of Bytów ( Bütow ).
