Life

John Chrysostom called her Philemon's wife.
Apphia is said to have suffered martyrdom under Emperor Nero . She is said to have refused, together with Philemon, Archippus and Onesimus , to participate in a pagan sacrificial cult . Thereupon they were sentenced to death by the governor Artocles. Appha and Philemon were stoned .
