The Apsley River is a river in the east of the Australian state of Tasmania .

geography

River course

The river rises on the eastern slopes of Mount Punter on the western edge of the Douglas-Apsley National Park , about 90 km east-southeast of Launceston . From there, the Apsley River initially runs along the western border of the national park south to its southern tip, where it flows through the Apsley Gorge . Then it turns its course to the east and flows towards the coast. Approx. 6 km west of the coastal town of Bicheno , the river turns south again, crosses under the Tasman Highway , which it then accompanies to the south-west, and flows into the Moulting Lagoon at Llandaff , which in turn flows into the Swan River .
