Aquila Church

The Evangelical Lutheran , listed Aquila Church is in Reichmannsdorf , a district of the district town of Saalfeld / Saale in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district in Thuringia . The parish Reichmannsdorf belongs to the parish area of Saalfelder Höhe in Kirchenkreis Rudolstadt-Saalfeld the Evangelical Church in Central Germany . Apparently it bears the name of the regionally important reformer Caspar Aquila (1488–1560).

The hall church was rebuilt in 1729 instead of the previous building, the existence of which has been handed down since 1596. In 1840 an apse was added to the east and a wooden beam ceiling was installed . In 1900, as part of a renovation, the rectangular, unplastered , neo-Gothic church tower was added to the west. The nave is provided with a slate roof . The tower has a gable roof transversely from which a pointed helmet with the tower clock rises. On the top floor of the tower is located behind the sound arcades of the belfry . The interior of the nave has two-storey galleries and is covered with a wooden flat ceiling. Parts of the original pulpit altar were built into the apse in 1840. The church furnishings include a baptismal angel , which was created around 1730.
