Aquilegia flabellata is a species ofthe buttercup family (Ranunculaceae).
description
Aquilegia flabellata is a perennial, herbaceous plant that reaches heights of 10 to 40, rarely up to 60 centimeters. There are one to three flowers per flower stem. The flower stalks are hairy glandular. The flowers are nodding. The bracts are bluish purple to purple and measure 20 to 30 × 15 to 20 millimeters. The plate is 13 to 16 millimeters long and blue or purple with a light yellow tip. The spur measures 8 to 20 × 4 to 5 millimeters in diameter at the base and is blue. The stamens are shorter than the plate. The anthers are dark.
The flowering period extends from June to July.
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 14.
Occurrence
Aquilegia flabellata occurs on Sakhalin, the Kuriles and in northern Japan. The species grows in mountain forests.

Aquilegia flabellata is rarely used as an ornamental plant for rock gardens, perennial beds and groups of trees. She has been in culture since 1887.
