Abigail and Brittany Hensel

Abigail "Abby" Lorraine and Brittany "Britty" Lee Hensel (born March 7, 1990 in Carver County , Minnesota ) are two Siamese twins known through their media appearances .

Life

The two Siamese twins are fused at the hips and have two heads , two spinal columns , two hearts, two stomachs and esophagus, partially fused lungs and two arms . An underdeveloped third arm was amputated at four months of age . Parts of your nervous system are also connected. All organs from the waist down, i.e. H. the intestines, the bladder, and the reproductive organs are shared by both. This particular form of Siamese twins is known as dicephaly . Only 28% of all known cases live with this form of Siamese twins.

The twins' parents, Patty and Mike Hensel, refused to separate the girls because an operation due to fused organs would have been fatal and the twins would have had to rely on wheelchairs afterwards. Abigail and Brittany themselves also declare that they refuse to break up. The twins grew up in New Germany (Minnesota).

Since their birth, the twins have led a largely normal life with no restrictions due to their bodies that have grown together. The twins attended Lutheran High School in Mayer, Minnesota , until 2008 . You play a number of sports (including volleyball , basketball, and swimming ). In addition, they both have a driver's license . They drive the car together, with Abby controlling the right arm and Brittany controlling the left. Abby takes over the pedals and gears, Brittany turns on the indicators and lights. Each of the two has their own personality. You wear z. They studied teaching at Bethel University in Saint Paul , Minnesota and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 2012 . They are currently working as math teachers.
