Arūnas Pečiulis
Arūnas Pečiulis (born September 7, 1966 in Klaipėda , Lithuanian SSR ) is a Lithuanian conductor living in Austria .
Career
Arūnas Pečiulis completed his training as a conductor at the Stasys Šimkus Music School in the Lithuanian port city of Klaipėda and at the Vilnius Music Academy . In 1991 he began a second degree at the Mozarteum Salzburg (choir, opera and orchestral conducting), which he graduated with honors in 1994. In the same year Pečiulis also received the sponsorship award from the Austrian Federal Ministry for Education, Art and Culture . On October 22nd, 2012 he was awarded the Salzburg State Medal of Merit by the Salzburg State Government for his musical achievements and his commitment to the charity event “A b'sondere Zeit”. In 2013 he was honored for his meritorious work by the Salzburg Liedertafel with the "Michael Haydn Medal" in silver, which was awarded for the first time in 30 years.
In 1993 Pečiulis became the second choir director, and since October 18, 2004 he has been the artistic director of the Salzburg Liedertafel . He also works with other choirs and ensembles such as the Lainerhof Quartet Salzburg , the women's ensemble vocal orange and the Salzburger Volksliedsingkreis . He is artistic director and, since 2017, overall director of the Advent singing "A b'sondere Zeit", an event organized by the Salzburg State Aid. From 2001 to 2013 he was choirmaster for the city of Salzburg . In 2018 he conducted the Lithuanian song festival "Dainų šventė". Concert tours led u. a. to Norway, the Netherlands, Italy, Croatia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Russia and many other European countries. In addition, he is repeatedly invited as a guest conductor to Lithuania and other European countries.
Pečiulis has already been a member or chairman of the jury at international choir and conductor competitions and teaches courses for young conductors in Lithuania. He is also the project manager and artistic director of “Music without Borders” (Austria, Italy, Germany, Lithuania, Ukraine, Russia).
Because of his achievements, he is listed in the current edition of the Lithuanian encyclopedia Visuotinė lietuvių enciklopedija .
