Alois Taux even composed a festival choir for the reception of Empress Elisabeth in Salzburg. In 1892 Josef Friedrich Hummel (1841–1919) became the director of the choir for 30 years, under him they also appeared at the Salzburg Mozart Festival and, since 1920, at the Salzburg Festival .

Hummel was followed by Ernst Sompek, the composer of the Salzburg national anthem. He, too, was to lead the choir for 25 years and, above all, to make it known abroad. At that time, concerts were mostly taking place with the Damensingverein Hummel.
