Arabsiyo ( Somali : Arabsiyo ) is a city in northwest Somalia , in the Woqooyi Galbeed region . It has been administered by the de facto independent Somaliland since the beginning of the Somali civil war . Its capital Hargeysa is only about 30 km to the east. According to current calculations, Arabsiyo has about 5000 inhabitants, but there are also estimates around 20,000.
The settlement is located on the river of the same name within a comparatively fertile area. The city is famous for its Ramadan celebrations and is also popular for weddings. In the valleys outside the city there are other small agricultural settlements such as Huluq, Agamsa, Gogol-wanaag, Beeyo-Qalooce, Dhagaxmadoobe, Biyomacaan, Laas Xadhaadh and Gogeysa.
