Araripe Júnior
Tristão de Alencar Araripe Júnior (born June 27, 1848 in Fortaleza , † October 29, 1911 in Rio de Janeiro ) was a Brazilian lawyer , literary critic and writer .
Araripe Júnior was the son of Tristão de Alencar Araripe and Argentina de Alencar Lima. His family was one of the most important in Ceará in the 19th century . He completed his law studies in 1869 at the Faculdade de Direito do Recife .
Araripe Júnior was a founding member of the Academia Brasileira de Letras and the Instituto do Ceará as well as a member of the Instituto Histórico e Geográfico Brasileiro . Together with Sílvio Romero and José Veríssimo , he is considered one of the most important positivists and literary critics of his time.
Afrânio Coutinho dealt with his complete works and published the five-volume Obra crítica de Araripe Júnior between 1958 and 1966 .
