Vehicle fleet

BGE vehicles that were still in existence were tracked down and acquired all over West Germany. A BGE locomotive was no longer available, the last remaining locomotive was owned by the Braunschweig Railway Friends. Thus, a retired diesel locomotive of the AKN the first train of GE. In 1976 the first steam locomotive was acquired and used.

1981 the DSB locomotive Q 350 , called "Karoline", was added from Denmark . This D-coupler was built in 1945 by the Frichs locomotive factory in Aarhus as a shunting locomotive for use in large shunting yards. This Dn2t (wet steam) machine has a net weight of 43 t (service weight including all supplies 56 t), an output of around 550 hp and reaches a top speed of 45 km / h. The drive wheel diameter is 1,250 mm, the length over the buffers (LüP) 10,340 mm.

On June 9, 2019, the locomotive was badly damaged in an accident at a level crossing . A car drove the locomotive, which was already on the crossing, into the engine from the side.

Today the association owns a total of six locomotives and 20 cars. A MaK type 240 B diesel locomotive was acquired in February 2007 and transferred to Geesthacht. Among other things, this locomotive is intended to serve as a reserve and inexpensive alternative for the Q350 locomotive for special trips. The diesel locomotive is used in the blue color of the former BGE.
