The Working Group of Evangelical Entrepreneurs in Germany eV (AEU), based in Karlsruhe, is a network of Protestant entrepreneurs, managers and executives that promotes business responsibility for the Church and society .

history

The AEU was co-founded in 1966 by the Protestant textile entrepreneur Walter Albert Bauer and initially saw itself as a thoroughly critical counterpart to the church workers' associations and the offices for industrial and social work of the churches. Today he acts as a mediator between church and business and is an important cooperation partner of the Protestant church , especially at conferences of the Evangelical Academies . He is very well networked in terms of staff in church, especially synodal bodies. Legally, the AEU is a registered association based in Karlsruhe and recognized as a non-profit organization.

Goal setting

The aim is “that the social market economy is understood and accepted as an economic system that is ethically responsible from a Christian perspective”.

Entrepreneurs, political leaders and representatives of various faculties as well as leading clergymen and leaders of the Protestant church are addressed . A prerequisite for membership is a high degree of solidarity with the Protestant Church.

structure

The AEU is run by a board of eight members. Chairman is Peter Barrenstein, his deputy Friedhelm Wachs . The full-time managing director is Stephan Klinghardt (Karlsruhe).

The board of trustees has twelve members. The chairman is Michael Freiherr Truchseß (Niederflorstadt), Deputy Peter Leibinger (Ditzingen).
