The two-flowered tulip ( Tulipa biflora ) is a species of tulip ( Tulipa ) in the lily family (Liliaceae).

The two-flowered tulip is a perennial bulb plant that reaches heights of 10 to 13 (20) centimeters. The onion scales are membranous. The stem is bare. The 2 leaves each measure 5 to 10 (15) × 0.5 to 1 (2) centimeters. There are 1 to 2 (6) flowers . The outer bracts measure 1.7 to 3 × 0.4 to 0.5 centimeters, the inner 2 to 3.2 × 0.8 to 1.3 centimeters. The anthers are 2 to 3 millimeters long, yellow in color and often have a black tip.

Flowering time is from March to April.

Occurrence

The two-flowered tulip occurs in south-east Russia , east Turkey , in the Caucasus , in Iran , in north Iraq , in the Caspian desert and occasionally in salty steppes in Serbia , Jordan and Egypt .

The two-flowered tulip is used as an ornamental plant in rock gardens. It has been in culture since 1806 at the latest.
