Musée de l'histoire et des civilizations de Rabat
The Musée de l'histoire et des civilizations de Rabat (formerly the Archaeological Museum ) in the city of Rabat ( Arabic متحف الرباط الأثري, DMG Matḥaf ar-Ribāṭ al-aṯarī ) combines the most important finds of the cultures of North Africa that were resident in Morocco . These range from prehistoric and Libyan-Berber steles to Phoenician and Roman artifacts and end with finds from the medieval Islamic period. The exceptionally well-preserved Roman bronze statues from Volubilis are among the museum's treasures.
location
The museum is not far from the Mosquée As Sunna in the new town ( ville nouvelle ) of Rabat, which was laid out during the French protectorate . The Musée Mohammed VI d'art moderne et contemporain , which opened in 2014, is only approx. 200 m away.
