The archive for papyrus research and related areas (abbreviation APF ; AfP ; ArchPap ) is an ancient scientific journal in the field of papyrology .

The Papyrus Research Archive is the oldest journal of its kind in the world. It was founded in 1901 by Ulrich Wilcken . Due to various circumstances, such as the two world wars , it initially appeared relatively irregular. Only 14 volumes were published between 1901 and 1941, and no volume at all between 1942 and 1952. The magazine was first published by BG Teubner Verlag in Leipzig , and since the 1950s in the Stuttgart branch of the company that was divided into two parts after the Second World War. Since volume 45 (1999) the magazine has been published by KG Saur Verlag , now by Verlag Walter de Gruyter . The languages of publication are German, English, French and Italian.

The current editors are Jean-Luc Fournet , Bärbel Kramer , Wolfgang Luppe , Herwig Maehler , Brian McGing , Günter Poethke , Fabian Reiter and Sebastian Richter . The archive for papyrus research is published in cooperation with the National Museums in Berlin . The journal contains articles but no reviews . For this purpose , thematic complexes of new literature are presented in so-called presentations in the sub-areas such as Christian texts , legal texts or drama . Supplements appear in addition to the magazine.
