The Moos Castle Brewery was first mentioned in a document in 1567, but it was not until the various family-owned breweries were merged that today's Arcobräu company came into being in Moos. In the early 1990s, Arcobräu took over a number of smaller breweries in Eastern Bavaria.

Arcobräu has organized its own folk festival every year at Whitsun since 1974, which is widely known in the region as the Moos Whitsun Festival . In addition, Arcobräu has been represented at the second largest Bavarian folk festival, the Gäubodenvolksfest in Straubing, since 1922 .

At the end of 2010, a dispute began between Arcobräu and the city of Deggendorf , which had ignited the question of an additional marquee at the Deggendorfer Volksfest and which culminated in allegations of corruption against local elected officials. This dispute, referred to by the regional media as the beer war , continued in the first half of 2011 and received national attention.

In 2014, Arcobräu entered into a cooperation with the Grünbach brewery based in Grünbach in the Erding district.

In March 2016, Arcobräu took over the Irlbach Castle Brewery , and at the beginning of 2018, another brewery, the Eschenbacher Privatbrauerei in Eltmann, was taken over.

In 2018, the brewery reached the tenth place of the best-selling brands in Germany with the Hellen Mooser Liesl (88,000 hectoliters).
