The Arctic Janus is a polar ship that was originally used by the Danish Maritime Authority for voyages in Greenland waters.
She is considered to be the largest operational cargo and inspection ship made of oak that was built for Greenland voyages, and may even be the only wooden ship in the world with a corresponding ice class .

In 1974 the Arctic Janus was built at the Karstensens shipyard in Skagen and was given hull number 114. The hull was built exclusively from oak that had been seasoned for 15 years. It is a double-hulled hull with a thickness of 15 centimeters designed for ice rides all over the world. The Greenland Inspection Vessel, which the Danish Maritime Authority has issued with a certificate of preservation, was used for government services until 1998 when it was converted into a charter vessel , mainly for anglers. In this capacity it offered space for four crew members and 14 guests and was mainly in the North and Baltic Seas as well as in the North Atlantic. It is now used as a hotel in Copenhagen .
