The Arctowski Peak is a somewhat isolated and 1410 m high mountain on the Lassiter coast of the Palmerland in the south of the Antarctic Peninsula . It rises eight miles west-southwest of the head of Howkins Inlet .
He was discovered from the air and photographed in December 1940 by participants in the United States Antarctic Service Expedition (1939–1941). Further aerial photographs were taken in 1947 by the American Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition (1947–1948), which also carried out a survey on site in cooperation with the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey (FIDS) in the same year. The FIDS named the mountain after the Polish meteorologist Henryk Arctowski (1871-1958), participant of the Belgica expedition (1897-1899) under the direction of the Belgian polar explorer Adrien de Gerlache de Gomery .
