The Howkins Inlet is an ice-covered bay at the Lassiter Coast of Palmer Lands south of the Antarctic Peninsula . It lies with a bay depth of 10 km between Cape Brooks and Lamb Point .

The bay was discovered from the air and photographed in December 1940 by participants in the United States Antarctic Service Expedition (1939–1941). Further aerial photographs were taken in 1947 by the American Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition (1947–1948), which also carried out a survey on site in cooperation with the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey (FIDS) in the same year. The FIDS named the bay after the British meteorologist Gordon Arthur Howkins (* 1919), who worked for the FIDS at the Deception Island station between 1944 and 1945 .
