Ardbeg Point is a cape in the east of the Scottish island of Bute on the Kyles of Bute and thus administratively belongs to the Unitary Authority Argyll and Bute . The houses of the villages of Ardbeg and Port Bannatyne , both suburbs of Rothesay , the capital of the island, stretch along the headland . Ardbeg Point forms the border of the two bays Rothesay Bay in the south and Kames Bay in the north. The neighboring headlands are Undraynian Point to the north and Bogany Point to the south. Ardbeg Point protrudes about 150 m from the island's land mass. Together with the headland Ardyne Point located opposite on Cowal , Ardbeg Point forms the last narrow point of the Kyles of Bute before it joins the Firth of Clyde with a width of about 1.6 km .

The area around Ardbeg Point developed in the Victorian Age , when the island was exposed to an increasing flow of tourists, which triggered the construction of hotels and housing. In the course of this, numerous new buildings were built in Ardbeg and Port Bannatyne, which also meant that the immediate vicinity of the cape was settled.
