The Ardent class (also "Thornycroft 27-knot A class") was a class of torpedo boat destroyers of the Royal Navy before the First World War and comprised three boats. Type ship was the Ardent .

All ships were built at John Isaac Thornycroft's shipyard in Chiswick . They were 61 meters long and displaced 265 tons. Their Thornycroft steam boilers generated an output of 4,200 hp and gave them a speed of 27 knots . The armament consisted of a 76 mm gun and two torpedo tubes for 18 ″ Whitehead torpedoes . Otherwise they resembled the Daring- class boats , which only had an additional torpedo tube at the bow.
