Dominion of the Arzruni

The Armenian dynasty of the Arzruni (Արծրունիներ), also Ardsruni or Artsruni , ruled the kingdom of Vaspurakan in southwestern Armenia , between Lake Van and the Great Zab . They derived their origin from the Assyrian king Sennacherib .

history

The rule of the dynasty over Vaspurakan ended in the first quarter of the 11th century with the death of King Gagik Arzruni . Because of the eastern invaders, the Arzruni established themselves in Cappadocia . In 1021 Seneqerim received Johannes Amasia, Sebaste and Evdokia as a fiefdom of the Byzantine emperor in exchange for Vaspurakan.
